Founded by Nina Hjortlund, a Danish-born entrepreneur and advocate for meaningful social enterprise, the brand was created to bridge the gap between ethically made East African products and conscious global consumers. After over a decade living in Mwanza, Tanzania, Nina witnessed firsthand the immense talent, resilience, and beauty that exists in local communities — and also the lack of sustainable access to international markets for their handcrafted goods. Swahili Sensations was established to change that.
